TalkAddict
To date, over 70% of cell phone users in the United States do not own a smartphone. Out of those users, even fewer actually have a data plan for Internet access. This poses a problem for many people who want access to social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, and instant messaging from their mobile phone. For 70% of the population, access to all of these services would have previously been impossible with a low-tech, inexpensive phone until now. TalkAddict was created exactly to solve this problem. TalkAddict allows users without Internet-enabled phones to access various Internet services through text messaging (SMS).
Founded in 2008, TalkAddict was created with the intention of solving a widely neglected problem using the most recent technology. By combining many different technologies, we are able to connect various social networks and software applications to mobile users using the most common and fastest growing form of data transfer in the mobile world, text messaging. By connecting previously incompatible applications and networks together and presenting these connections to the mobile world, we believe there is great potential in this newly founded gateway.
Unlike many other services which give you limited access to individual networks such as AIM and Twitter from your mobile phone, TalkAddict combines these services and many more into one easy-to-use service. Many people do not solely use AIM, Yahoo, MSN messenger (or Facebook and Twitter for that matter), but rather use a combination of many networks, hence the rise of multi-protocol instant messengers such as Trillian and Pidgin. Therefore, TalkAddict combines many popular instant messaging and social networks together to fit every user’s network preference, making our all-in-one solution ideal for anyone wanting to connect to various services at once from their mobile phone. Also, because we combine many opposing services together, there is no threat of individual networks themselves creating a business like ours because they would be supporting their own competition, which serves as a barrier to entry. (For example, AOL would not create a mobile instant messaging service that supports Yahoo and vice versa).
Because our company is located near Silicon Valley, the technology capitol of the U.S., TalkAddict is in the ideal position for growth. With our extensive computer skills, we by no means lack the technical skills to keep TalkAddict ahead of the game. Financially, our business requires relatively little money to function, meaning we can concentrate more on creating a useful and dynamic service for many users. Yet, because of the large potential market and many different strategies of creating revenue, our business has the opportunity to be very profitable and sustainable.
Nowadays, with cell phone companies charging extremely high rates for data plans and expensive phones, you would normally have to succumb to their high prices to access all of your favorite social networks and online applications. With TalkAddict as your mobile companion, you can easily turn any inexpensive, “non-fancy” phone into the ultimate social network and online communication tool.
